Recently at PTT Head Office Service Station, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Mr. Predee Daochai,(left), KASIKORNBANK Senior Executive Vice President, and Dr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, (right) ,PTT Chief Executive Officer & President, held a press conference to introduce PTT Smart Fuel-up Technology, the first of its kind in Thailand. Joining PTT in developing the system, KBank believes that the new service will benefit PTT fleet card customers in boosting efficiency of fuel-cost control and ensuring fuel-up accuracy, which can be traced and verified.
This innovation has been developed to control and verify fuel-up accuracy at PTT petrol stations, with the most efficient technology that ensures swift service, fewer errors, greater safety and efficiency in fuel-cost control.
Dr. Pailin said the company’s cooperation with KBank marked another achievement in using state-of-the-art technology to boost efficiency of customers’ account management, in accordance with PTT’s Technologically Advanced and Green National Oil Company (TAGNOC) policy, which focuses on organizational development with technology advancements that are environmentally friendly, in addition to PTT’s role in energy exploration to serve the demands of the Thai people.
PTT Smart Fuel-up Technology is based on a vehicle identification system – using radio frequency identification (RFID) – which enables fueling of vehicles that have a special ring-shaped device installed to them. The device records the specific data of individual vehicles, and cannot be removed to install in other vehicles. The data includes vehicle registration number, type of fuel, stipulated fuel amount, fuel-up date and petrol station. With this information, business operators can analyze fuel costs and fuel consumption rate. This unique device can also provide other helpful data for businesses, particularly for fleet card customers. Moreover, a PTT 24-hour call center is also available for customers to ensure superior, convenient and swift service, with experts and technicians who will be on-call to directly answer customers’ queries and solve their problems. PTT plans to install the new technology in at least 60 service stations within 2013, and up to 200 within next year.
Mr. Predee said KBank has cooperated with Israel-based Orpak System Limited, a petrol station automation expert for fleet card and RFID-monitored vehicles, in designing the PTT Smart Fuel-up Technology to serve PTT service stations. The cutting-edge technology controls and verifies fuel-up accuracy with the highest efficiency.
KBank and PTT have so far developed a variety of financial innovations, including the K-Corporate Payment Card and PTT Direct Approve, which offer a real-time fuel reservation and payment service for PTT trade partners’ convenience and flexibility. KBank has been chosen by PTT to install more than 3,000 electronic data capturers (EDCs) for credit and debit cards at more than 1,200 PTT service stations nationwide.
The move marks another achievement of the two giants in the energy and financial industries in using modern technology for customer convenience and utmost satisfaction, in accordance with PTT’s policy of technology-driven innovations towards being a leading Thai transnational energy company.
